Almuhtada.org – You guys may hear or felt like you guys have a crush on someone or maybe having feeling with that person, right? So, what is the definition of having a crush on someone? And is it haram in Islam to have a crush on someone? Well, to hear more about the information, you might as well read this to find out!
So, what is the definition? According to Britannica Dictionary definition of crush is a strong feeling of romantic love for someone that is usually not expressed and does not last a long time. And having a crush on someone is normal.
Having feelings for someone is a natural thing from Allah that has in every human being. Because even love was created by Allah. A man’s love for a woman and a woman’s love for a man are human feelings that stem from the fitrah that Allah created in the human soul.
So, what is the ruling of liking someone? In Islam, the ruling is permissible or mubah. And yes, you can talk to the opposite gender, but there has to be a limit, especially liking for the opposite gender that is not yet muhrim.
In Islam, here are some ways to restrain love for the opposite gender that you can use:
- Always remember Allah
The first way to resist love is to strengthen the heart and always remember Allah as the true form of love in Islam. By doing this, we feel that Allah always watches us, and protect us from wherever we are. Because when we remember Allah, we will feel reminded and immediately kept away from sinful deeds.
- Keep your eyes on the ground
Curbing excessive love can also be done by keeping your gaze. Because by maintaining our gaze we will be able to avoid the temptation of Satan that comes through the eyes. The gaze is one of Satan’s ways to tempt and arouse excessive love desires.
- Always istighfar
Always istighfar is a way to invoke Allah’s protection. If we have been overcome by blind love then of course we will use all means to make it happen. Therefore, to avoid this should not happen, we should always istighfar and invoke of forgivness to Allah.
- Don’t love them too much
Indeed, anything that is excessive is disliked by Allah SWT. Especially loving a different gender too much. Then we will feel devastated when we lose that person. Likewise with love, excessive love should only be given to Allah SWT and not to humans. Excessive feelings of love will lead to a sense of ownership. Therefore, don’t let the sense of ownership rule you.
- Focus Your Feelings on the Positive
