Almuhtada.org – Istiqomah, or in Indonesian called “consistent” is a practice that many people crave, but not a few who fail to run it. In fact, being consistent in worship is a straight path to His heaven.
So, what makes it difficult for someone to be istiqomah in worship? The answer to this statement must be found so that people can introspect and as soon as possible can become people who are istiqomah in serving and doing good deeds in this world.
Quoted from yufid.TV, keistiqomahan in terms of worship has many obstacles. First, bad friends. Friends are the first and main obstacle considering that most of the activities we carry out are always related to friends. So that the condition of bad friends will be proportional to the difficulty of a person to be istiqomah in goodness.
Just imagine, when someone wants to pray on time and in jamaah, while every day his left and right invite him to places of sin, fun hanging out and others like that. Certainly, that person will follow the temptation of the devil more, rather than doing good, such as praying five times in jama’ah.
Related to this condition, the Prophet Swt. emphasized: “The person depends on the religion of his friend. (HR. Abu Dawud).
Second, following lust. The religious scholars, every time they give a religious lecture, always remind their people to keep their lusts in check. In fact, they must fight against lust. Because, lust tends to invite and lead people to the pit of evil.
Allah says: “And do not follow your lust. It will surely lead you away from the path of Allah. (QS. As-Shad, 26).
In the world of Sufism, controlling lust is the main teaching. Because, uncontrolled lust makes a person’s heart and mind closed so that it damages faith, as well as keistiqomahan in terms of worship.
Third, ignorance of Allah’s religion. One of the kejahiliyyahan of man is to reject the Oneness of Allah and His religion.
Looking at the factors that stop istiqomah, ignorance of Allah’s religion is the next cause. Why is that? Because the ignorant tend to be against what they do not know.
Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib once said: “Man tends to be against what he does not know, just as the fool is the enemy of the scholar.”
Fourth, not wanting to sit with scholars and righteous people. Islam is a religion of peace. Peace is not only seen in its teachings, but also in its followers, in this case the scholars and righteous people.
Scholars and righteous people are the lovers of Allah who always follow and fulfill the teachings of Allah. At the same time, they are also role models for Muslims. This position and predicate makes scholars and righteous people always prioritize the teachings of Islam which are mercy lil alamin.
Sitting together with scholars and pious people can make a person diligent in worship. And the opposite is true. If a person rarely or never sits with scholars, then he will be dry to religious values, making him lazy to worship and the others.
Gathering or sitting with the fugoha’ is the best way to improve the quality of our worship. We take lessons from the scholars, we gain their knowledge, so that we will be istiqomah. [] Fahdina Dean
