Almuhtada.org – AL-Qur’an surah Al-Isra verse 32 explain about prohibition of getting close to adultery. Getting close to adultery is the same thing as choosing a wrong path.
Al-Qur’an surah Al-Isra is the 17th surah in the Al-Qur’an. Al-Isra means The Night Journey, or this surah is also often called Surah of the Children of Israel. This surah has 111 verses and belongs to the category of Makkiyah surahs.
Surah Al-Isra describes a lot of things, one of them prohibition of getting close to adultery. It explains in verse 32
Surah Al-Isra verse 32
وَلَا تَقْرَبُوا۟ ٱلزِّنَىٰٓ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فَٰحِشَةً وَسَآءَ سَبِيلًا
Meaning:
And do not get close to adultery; indeed, adultery is an evil deed. And a bad path.
Interpretation Of Surah Al-Isra Verse 32

Surah Al-Isra explains, and don’t get close to adultery by doing actions that can lead to adultery; Indeed, adultery is an evil deed, which comes an illness and damaging the bloodline, and a bad path which causes the person who commits it, is tortured in hell.
And don’t kill the soul which Allah hath forbidden to kill, except with the right reason, example on the basis of the ruling of qisas.
And whoever is killed wrongfully, not for a Shariah reason, then indeed we have given power to his heirs, to demand qisas or ask for repayment from the murder, or to forgive him, but do not let the heirs cross the line in killing, that is, in demanding killing, let alone committing murder by taking the law into their own hands.
Indeed, he is a person that can help from Allah’s side with the permanent law that is fair.

The opinion of Quraish Shihab, surah Al-Isra verse 32 explained, don’t get close to adultery by doing things that lead to it. Because adultery is evil deed whose evil is very clear. That path is the worst path.
- Hadith of Don’t Get Close to Adultery
It is mentioned that all attitudes and behaviors that can lead to adultery should not be done and should be avoided. This is because, in men and women have the desire to commit adultery.
Getting close to adultery includes the prohibition of all things that can lead to it. Whoever approaches the prohibited area is afraid that he will fall into it. Especially in the issue of adultery, which most lusts are driven to do.
One of the acts that comes close to adultery is khalwat. Khalwat is being alone between a man and a woman. Islam forbids khalwat. Even khalwat with one’s own mahram should be limited. Rasulullah SAW prohibited non-mahram men and women from being alone together in the following hadith.
From lbnu Abbas Ra. Rasulullah SAW said, “None of you should be alone with a woman except with her mahram.” (Muttafaqun ‘Alaih)
It affirms getting close to adultery by doing many things. Even if it is in the form of imagining it, so that it can lead or fall into badness. Indeed, adultery is a very evil deed, over the limit in any measure, and a bad way.
Regarding actions that are close to adultery, it is confirmed in a hadith Abu Hurairah Ra. said, that the Prophet Muhammad said:
From Abu Hurairah Ra. Rasulullah SAW: said, “Indeed, a person has been destined for adultery which is not impossible and will definitely be followed. The adultery of the eyes is seeing, the adultery of the ears is hearing, the adultery of the tongue is speaking, the adultery of the hand is striking, the adultery of the foot is stepping, the heart is desiring and imagining, and the private parts are either confirming these things or denying them.” (Muslim).
