Almuhtada.org – Prophet Shith was the son of Prophet Adam. But Prophet Syits AS is not included in the 25 Prophets and Messengers mentioned in the Qur’an.

From Abi Dzar Al-Ghifari RA, Rasulullah SAW said when asked about the number of prophets. “(The number of prophets) is one hundred twenty-four thousand (124,000) prophets.”

The friend asked again, “Then how many messengers were there among them?” He replied, “Three hundred and twelve (312).” (HR At Tirmizi)

Quoting from the book Qashash al-Anbiyaa translated by Saefullah MS, Ibn Kathir said that the meaning of the name Syits is a gift from Allah SWT. The name was given by Prophet Adam and his wife, Hawa, to the newborn Prophet Shith after the killing of Habil at the hands of his own brother.

Although not as famous as other prophets, Prophet Syits AS received 50 sheets of suhuf from Allah SWT to deliver to humanity. Suhuf is a collection of sheets containing the words of Allah SWT.

Prophet Syits chose to live in Makkah, where he could continuously perform minor hajj (umrah) and major hajj (pilgrimage). He rebuilt the Kaaba using thick mud and piles of stones.

Trusted to Keep the Nur of the Prophet Muhammad, Prophet Syits AS is the next after Prophet Adam AS and Hawa who is trusted to keep the Nur of Prophet Muhammad SAW.

Quoting the book Collection of Religious Questions and Answers by Kyai Abdullah Alif, in a history it is said that Allah SWT first created the Nur of the Prophet Muhammad before He created Adam, Hawa, the universe and its contents.

Sheikh Yusuf bin Ismail An-Nabhani in the Book of Hujatullah states that previously the nur of the Prophet Muhammad SAW always seemed to shine on the face of the Prophet Adam, glowing like the sun that shines brightly.

Then, Allah SWT took an agreement from the Prophet Adam AS to always keep the nur. Prophet Adam AS accepted it with joy, then the nur resided in Siti Hawa.
