Almuhtada.org – The Ayyamul Bidh fast, also known as fasting on the 13th, 14th, and 15th on the year of Hijri. We do this fasting every 13th, 14th, and 15th on the month of Hijri, except on the month of Muharram, Ramadan, and Dzulhijjah. It mentioned in the hadit narrated by Bukhari and Muslim: “Fast three days every month is like fasting forever.”

Why is it called the Ayyamul Bidh Fast? Because it’s already explained in the hadith by Ibnu Abbas that when prophet Adam AS came down to the earth, his whole body got burned from the sun, so he turned black and burnt.

Meaning:

“The reason it is called ‘Ayyamul Bidh’ is the narration of Ibn Abbas RA, it is called Ayyamul Bidh because when the Prophet Adam came to the earth, the sun burned him so that his body became black. Allah SWT then revealed to him to fast on Ayyamul Bidh (white days); ‘Fast on the white days (Ayyamul Bidh)’. So, Prophet Adam AS fasted on the first day, then one third of his body became white. When he fasted on the second day, another third of his body became white. And on the third day, the remaining third of his body became white”.
