Almuhtada.org – There is a story, a woman who defeat one of the strongest and brutal man in the history. This woman is named Ghazala from Shaibani tribe. She is one of the the strongest and have an ability of horse riding.
Ghazala is from Mosul in Irak. With her husband, she was involved in several battles on the field of battle and fought against an evil leader named Al-Hajjaj bin Yusuf Al-Tsaqafi.
Al-Hajjaj bin Yusuf Al-Tsaqafi 661 AD/ 40 AH – 714 AD/ 95 AH) was a ruler, politician, and defense minister of the Ummayyah caliphate. He was a controversial and complicated figure in early Muslim history.
He’s known as a ruler who is clever, yet harsh and cruel. It is noted that he tried to tear down the Ka’bah and killed an uncountable number of people.
Ghazala fought marvelously and defeated Al-Hajjaj bin Yusuf Al-Thaqafi in front of her and her husband. Hajjaj, when defeated by Ghazala, he immediately ran away.
Ghazala himself had promised to enter the Kufa mosque and then pray two rak’ahs there, reciting Surah Al-Baqarah and Surah ‘Ali Imran. Hajjaj’s defeat at that time is described in a verse that reads:
أسدٌ علَيّ وفي الحروبِ نعامةٌ
Meaning:
“A lion is above me, and there are ostriches fighting?”
Hajjaj, however, was like an ostrich in front of a deer, having been defeated by a woman named Ghazala.
For two years, the war continued. Ghazala and her husband continued to fight against Hajjaj. At that time they defeated more than 20 armies. But then the leader of Hajjaj sent a large army. Until finally Ghazala was killed. The soldiers who defeated her then immediately took Ghazala’s head to be brought to Hajjaj.
However, Ghazala’s husband was able to get the head back and buried Ghazala near Kufa. Thus, Ghazala’s death on the field of battle marked the beginning of the end of the two-year war. [] Fahdina Dean Yustisia
